Here's the story behind that line. He (Fran) realised that chords of the song were similar to "Wonderwall' (written by Liam Gallacher, recorded by Oasis) so he wanted to sort of play a tribute to this and mentioned the song. I've seen Fran being interviews where he was asked to outline hoe the song was written and that's what he said.
