Excellent comments from both AgredereaTheos, and Politeama! You've said these things perfectly, and I am glad to agree wholeheartedly. I am always grateful to hear of other lovers of Alida (whose beauty must surely have exceeded that of even Helen of Troy). Looking at her almost brings tears to my eyes sometimes. Btw, I thought she was brilliant - devastating - in Senso, surely her greatest role - but her suffering was so real that I could only watch it once - it was just too much to bear.
