Mr Crowley live performance in church by Jem (Belper School)

I performed this song at a talent showcase for local schools. I was asked by my other music teacher if I wanted to take part, obviously he has a different opinion about my ability lol! Anyway, I told him what song I would be playing. I thought it was going to be happening in the community hall at Ripley, didn't realise until I got there that it was actually going to be performed in All Saints Church, Ripley. The church was packed with several hundred people includindg local mayors with fancy chains round their necks, my dad called them "the chain gang" The first 2 rows were reserved for the VIP's lol. The acoustics in the church were amazing!! I chose to play this song because I really love playing it although I did make a few mistakes but I don't think anyone noticed. I was the only person playing rock. There were jazz/blues band, swing, classical orchestra and singers etc. It was a really cool night! During the interval after I had played, one of the VIP's came over to talk to me and my mum, she congratulated me on my performance and commented on the song, saying that she thought that Mr Crowley was a witch!! My mum coughed and spluttered and quickly changed the subject. We had never really thought about the lyrics, just the music. Perhaps if I had thought about it I would have realised. When we got home, my mum looked into it and it appears that Mr Crowly was a very strange man that lived in Scotland and wrote several books on the occult...I don't know if this makes him a witch, but it certainly doesn't make him a saint! lol!
I hope no one is offended by this and I am sure Ozzy "The prince of Darkness" would have a good laugh about it. I wonder if he has ever managed to perform it in a church?!

Hi Skip,

I just love performing and it was really good to get back on stage again. It was quite a strange evening really, I even had the vicar come up to me and congratulate me on my playing, he said he loved it and it was the sort of music he wanted playing in his church lol!

I found out afterwards that 2 people hadn't turned up so I could have perhaps done a couple more.
