On August 14, 2009, the parishioners of St. Mary Orthodox Church began their celebration of their patronal feast, the Dormition, or falling asleep, of Mary, the Theotokos. This recording is of Psalm 140, "O Lord, I Have Cried." It features the chanters of St. Mary Orthodox Church in Omaha, NE, namely Rdr. Michael (Moses) Filmore, Holly Walsh in the right choir, Christopher Palo in the left choir, Brian Linell as the isonkrates and the Very Reverend Fr. Don (Nektarios) Hock as the celebrant.
@pjdraud: it's tone 1. "O Lord I have Cried" is Fr Basil Kazan's arrangement (used in most Antiochian parishes in the USA), the stichoi are improvised, & for the stichera (O Strange Wonder...) I'm using Fr. Seraphim Dedes' "Automela" for music & we're both using Holy Transfiguration Monastery's translation. This was an incredible vespers service! Thanks, John Damascene, for posting this!
