Sci-fi Super 8 digital short which takes a dark twisted view on Patrick Kavanagh's favorite stretch of Canal. I Shot this piece on one roll of Kodak super 8mm film back in 2003. My dad plays the Old Man and Edward Cunniffe plays the young man. We projected the developed film onto Ed's sitting room wall. Whilst Recording this projection onto a mini-dv camera, Ed sat in the corner by an old vinyl player and played some obscure dark and twisted lps he had in his collection. Snippets from these tracks along with the sound of the 8mm projector whirring into the camera mic make up the sound track. The picture is pretty much an edit in camera aside from the obvious moment of spilt screen action. Anyhow this piece picked up a commendation in the best experimental section of the kerry film festival (2004) and featured as the opening film of the darklight digital festival's new wave of irish shorts programme (2004). Anyhow let me know what ye think. Many different theories out there...
