@newmoon56 It's an over protective mother.

You're an idiot.

@lindseywagners Maybe. For sure Roger was unhappy for most of his adult life: he never knew his father who died here in Italy in 1944 during the WWII (see also John Lennon who lost her mom when he was only 14), and I might suppose he was angry towards everyone. Almost no one amongst of the British rock genius of his generation have a nice memory of school days. I figure out that the decades past the WWII had to be hard for the children of those who fought in the war.

All of us have a wall, it's the wall we put up around our heart over the years to keep us from getting hurt. Some of us build it higher than others. Some people build it so high that nobody can ever get in again, and the person within it goes mad. Just like in this album, he built his wall too high.

@newmoon56 this is song is about Rogers' over protective Mother.

@newmoon56 I don't agree. I believe The Wall is what keeps us from each other, it's the wall between people. Mother, dead father, government, cheating wife, teachers are bricks in this wall... All things that make us distant from each other, Fear, yes
The Most genious Movie ever written

The song is about Fear. The Wall is about building a wall to keep the bad out and all that is wrong away..It could mean a mean mother, the govt, war, disease, drug abuse- all that haunts the human race.
