Best version I think is the Radka Toneff, Steve Dobrogosz and Jon Eberson version on "Fairytales" album recorded in 1979. This recording is in the same mood as Stanley Myers "Cavatina", Eva Cassidys "Fields Of Gold", Nina Simone - Mr Bojangles... all great songs

I agree this version is beautiful, however, Joe Cocker's version has the most emotionally powerful.... and my absolute favorite!

This the best version, bar none. Webb's voice is perfect for the melancholy of having loved and lost that love due to your own errors.

Funny how many people consider Webb to be a weak vocalist, and when you compare hi singing to anyone on the charts today, he sounds twice as good as they do. What he may lack in vocal range or power he makes up for with SOUL.

and Lisa Cheallaigh!! ^^ my favorite version :)

I heard a rumor that Kenny Rankin was to record this just before his passing....
Jimmy was to play the piano. ...?
I agree - the moon can be Hmmm... difficult. damn Fate-great song

Then you'll be pleased to learn that Webb considers Cocker's one of the finest interpretations of this song.
