My take on a take anywhere survival kit. This kit covers all of the basic needs. Food, fire, shelter, water.

  • Cant find that bottle in boots, would you have a link Sean? Do they still sell it.

  • Its not online but it was in thier christmas gift section. Im sure if you look around you will be able to find something similar in other shops. If I find something else I'll let you know.

  • In January of '09 here in Indiana it was -17F for several days running. Adding in the windchill it was far much colder. I'd hate to have to rely on any shelter item that could be carried in a survival kit. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be a good idea to carry something but I'd go for a debris hut, snow cave or quenzie, or even an open fronted leanto with a lumberman's fire depending on the conditions. I've been to England and that kit will work fine there. Not in the US.

  • I agree, with you. Youu would need to build a kit to your environment.

  • wats that water bottle thing called

  • It was in Boots the chemist in the UK. They sold it as an outdoor kit in there gift range.

  • Hi Shaun! Nice video, definitely worth working on my own possibles kit. Just one suggestion for your kit and I am sure that you probably carry this in your main first aid kit is, "Benadryl", for anaphylactic shock from stings, bites, etc. Even if you are not allergic to something you can become allergic to something you have been exposed to before.

  • hey silver fox! hope you are well man:)

  • thanks, shaun! I do a fair amount of hiking and biking and usually have a rucksack on my back most days (with college books in it) but have been looking for a compact kit i could ram in with my text books and you've just handed me the bread & butter of that right here! you rock, man!

  • wouldnt some multi vitamins be good? maybe take em out of the bottle and put them into a little baggy or something

  • I have spent a year trying to create a lightweight backpacking kit on a buget. So far, its cost me about £200. You just went and created the ultimate light weight pack for 15 quid.... You are a genius!

  • why not make a strap and wear over the body, i'd carry that way its pretty cool.

  • Not too bad, but I think I would want a wide mouth Nalgene bottle to stuff all the gear into. Also, the leather pouch is a great idea!

  • you should show the consent

  • Sean you increase room and utility of your kit by removing the sewing kit and replacing it with a spool of dental floss and 2 leather needles like saddle needles or a stiletto looking piercing needle. In USA I can get them from Tandy Leather Co. But I use the dental floss as my all purpose string. It's like a 100 yard spool of artificial sinew. -"Shade and water."
