We use a free choice gradulated sheep mineral that contains all the vitamins and minerals that sheep require. We live in delta area with very rich soil and our sheep still use quite a bit of the mineral. So I can see where if you have deficient soil how that could be a problem. Thank you for the information.

@MsMarcie123 They are Zwartbles originally from the Netherlands. The deficiency is a problem of the local soil conditions and has nothing to do with the breed. The deficiency can lead to 'white muscle disease' and you either inject the ewes once a year or the lambs at birth (cheaper!)

@KuehneJ What breed of sheep is shown in your video? they are marked beautifully. We have over the last couple of years started raising a Hampshire/Suffolk cross or Club Lamb and are really enjoying raising and showing. My son is now looking to show a few pure bred sheep....so just wondering what your's are. Thanks for the response about the medicine you were giving at birth. Is the Nutrient Deficiency common in that breed?
