He did not mention the terrain he is hiking in.
You pack as dictated by local conditions.

I guess the best way to learn how to hike is actually hiking and making your own mistakes, starting with one day hikes and then longer ones, sometimes forget on purpose some things and see if u really need this, experience kills all youtube videos and books. Sorry about my english it isnt my native language

LOL, "I don't anticipate using my jacket"!!! Then why take it?!?! Pack your over-night gear at the bottom and clothing/food/first-aid on top. Typically you want your large/bulky items on the bottom, heaviest items centered and low and close to your back/close to the frame and the lightest items on the top.

Boil it. It's much more reliable than water filters made by profit oriented private companies that are not responsible for the diseases you experience as symptoms appear few weeks (after the incubation period) and is always blamed on you. Besides boiled water tastes great (once cooled)! :P

nice video, i find that rolling is the best way to pack your clothing not just mashing it in your bag. coming from military experiences in harsh environments its always good to seal you're clothing in a waterproof bag, even if you are going out for a day hike. you can never be too careful.
