@anhik he was originally a general from Heaven and got punished as a river demon after breaking something (a lamp or jewel)... but he's known as Sha Seng which means Sand Monk.

This brings back so much memories.... I remember when I was in China as a child, I'd watch this everyday after school! My hero was the Su Wu Kong and I'd dream of him.

@crazygorillas: Tang Seng - the monk, who's the master of the other three;

Sun Wu Kong - the monkey, the first disciple, the most powerful one;

Zhu Ba Jie - the piggy, silly and lazy, the 2nd disciple;

Sha Wu Jing - another monk, 4th disciple, prudent and diligent.
