Hibla.com: KURT ROSENWINKEL TRIO (U.S.) in London - T WO Music Presents at Road Trip and Charlie Wright's International
on THURSDAY 26th and FRIDAY 27th of MARCH.
Guitar - Kurt Rosenwinkel
bass - Gary Hoopengardner
drums - Sebastian Merk

The sound of Kurt Rosenwinkels seminal group instantly heralded a new era for Jazz with the release of The Enemies of Energy on the Verve label in 1999. Possibly the most imitated jazz musician of his generation, Rosenwinkel remains unmatched in vision and playing power, as evidenced by his four groundbreaking Verve releases, and most recently, The Remedy, live from New Yorks Village Vanguard, on Artistshare Records. His other recent collaborations are with Brad Mehldau (CD called "Deep Song" on Verve Records) and with Bad Plus with with whom he played for the JVC Jazz Festival in New York last June. He also was a member of groups: Paul Motians Electric Bebop Band (1992-94), Joe Henderson, Gary Burton, the Brian Blade Fellowship, Joshua Redman, etc. This will be Kurt's long awaited UK appearance in the UK with his own Trio........

Selected Discography of Kurt Rosenwinkel:

  • I suppose I am a film student. I am not on assignment though. Why that would make a difference I am not sure. This was my best way of recording this night and delivering to a wider public- now some 12000.

  • how many picture he or she has took for this video?

    you know hiblacom?

  • The vid is made from 707 images taken at Road Trip and 502 at Charlie Wrights. I recorded the sound in Charlie Wrights.

Kurt is playing again in Charlie Wrights on 19th and 20th of JULY.

you can see some of the stills on my website hibla com/090326KurtRosenwinkel/index.htm

  • @ogulkoker turn out the stars ..Bill Evans piece

  • @hiblacom thanks so much for this. i dig the stop motion thing and the pics are fantastic.

  • I LOVE everything about this. There is something honest about these pictures that appeals to me...they tell the story of a nice evening. The music could not be better...unassuming, but totally compelling. What a beautiful tune.

  • This video... hmm. It is beautiful and almost impressionistic, the pictures emphasizing the fleeting (integral to jazz) while creating a rich sense of atmosphere. But, I have to say, it also makes me feel as if I'm watching Kurt after ten beers and a few xanax, and/or with a serious case of vertigo. But I really like where it's going. I think if the pictures in sync with the beat -- they shift way ahead of it -- it would lose this disorientating and helpless feeling.

  • I could listen to those beautiful medium swing weaving-in-and-out melodic lines all day

  • A great guitarist, and the other musicians are really together. I like the accents the drummer adds, the bassist looks so intense, I wonder if he ever smiles. He does show passion when he plays. Great job.

  • @ogulkoker : the tune is "Turn Out the Stars", by Bill Evans

  • What is the name of the song?

  • Great work. This style on these videos express the music very well. This is marvelous, the one with Mark Turner is one of my favorites.
