Here is something you dont see every day, a class 50 at Liverpool street. It was the 26th August 1991 and 50017 Royal Oak had the honor of working the Network rail day 1000hrs to Harwich. Of course there was only one place to get the shot where countless English Electric thorobreds had walked before, 40s 37s and re engined 31s and that was Bethnal Green Bank. Sweet.

  • IL be dammed, i was on that!!

  • @formidable38 You lucky bugger. :-)

  • @MrStapletonRoad I dont remember to much about it now apart from some guy who had to be removed from the train on the way back after having his hand hit by another train traveling the other way whilst "flailing" at 90+! Seems like a lifetime away now!

  • @formidable38 Sorry to hear about the lad who had his hand trashed, I was 40 bashing on the North Wales coast line in the summer of 79 when a lad recieved serious head injuries due to window hanging through a tunnel. Yuk.

    Cheers Dude

  • Great. Fifties are much under-rated and it's good to see them remembered.

  • @balmesh An event like this is certainly worth a minutes viewing time of any enthusiast. Thanks for taking a look.

    Cheers Eddie

  • Had loads of 50`s on pres lines, only one in service, not my 1st choice of loco TBH, but each to their own.

Give me a 66 anyday. Had about loads of 66`s on tours, im a main man when it comes to units, well over a million miles on units, bet not many can beat me on that for bashing?

  • What an absolute Hellfire day a winning 50 and also the 37s which where 113 + 252 & 218 + 238.

  • Yep I was on that with my son whilst my wife was at Gidea Park with a camera!!. Seem to remember someone threw a seat out of a window??

  • 50033, old smoky joe, untill it had new piston rings, spectacular start ups

  • I was on that train as well, there for the 37's but the 50 was great, some strange things went on that day... especially in Clacton...!

  • The lad who smashed his hand is fine, no long term effects suffered and no it wasnt me but i know him well
