Growing sweet corn

Home grown sweet corn, I didn't think it was possible to grow it with limited space or out of the ground...but here it is! My niece & nephew chose what vegatbles they wanted to grow and sowed their favourite sweet corn back in February. Now we have our own green giants on the roof garden:)

I have been watching videos before starting my garden this spring and this is by far my favorite. My 'little" garden is 40X40 and I told my husband we didn't have room for corn. Maybe I need to reconsider. If you can do that in a tub and have results I may be able to grow an ear or two. Loved it.

I might add though, if I did this where I live (western Australia) it wouldn't work as well. Our summers are too hot. The containers would dry out too quickly.

The corn tastes amazing..I still can't believe that we grew it ourselves. maybe you could try just one plant and see how it gets on...I watered (soaked) these every other day and fed them a few times with an organic feeder. like I said, I had no idea of growing any veg let alone sweetcorn...so you never know. good luck...

Love this, really well done better than the gardening websites, saw how the corn was growing and loved the use of the containers and home-made greenhouse. The music fitted really well and it was clearly done. Well done and thanks for putting the video on.

Love your video! This is my first year with sweetcorn too. Like you, I thought the pollen stalks on top were the corn, then learned from another YouTube video that you can hand pollinate the cobs when you see the hair coming by sprinkling them with the pollen. Really looking forward to my first crop:-) Hope yours is a success too!

Some people laugh at me..... when I tell them I grow tomatoes and beginnings of a lemon tree from my window ledge on Houston Street. Manhattan or course  ~shurgs~
