Hi Navnut, The splitter is a piece of software. Interlaced video at 120i has 2 slightly different "Fields" per frame. A Field is every second horizontal line of a frame. When you seperate them you can get twice as mainy frames. There is no noticeable side effect (as you can see) The missing lines are filled in by the software(called interpolation)

Oh yeah does the frame splitter have any negative side effects?

Hi
What is a field splitter, what does it do?
Is it an expensive piece of equipment?
Great vid by the way.

you can only record 3 sec at a time. which plays back as 12 secs

that kind of sucks - so like if i am shooting with my HDR-HC5 and some guy come in a huge speed into a jump. and then i press the button to early and i end up the clip by showing him in mid-air..

you can set the camera to record the 3 seconds of action that happened before the button press instead of after. V handy I use it all the time

I suppose you cant do this with Adobe Premiere or After effects. Is the HMA field splitter expensive? Also if you are recording really high speed action cant the interpolation mess up when creating new info which was never in the frame? Did u use editing software to slow the clip down to 70% or can u do that in camera?
Thanks again

Software is free I think. I got it with Hu-m-an software. interpolation doesn't seem to harm the final. don't know if premiere can split frames. never used it but AviSynth (also free) does slowmo stuff v. tech looking
