I liked Raiden in MGS2. Those saying he was gay or sissy are either insecure of themselves or need to grow up. I think Raiden in MGS4 is cool as well, but I feel like he was never supposed to be that way. Like Hideo was sick of the negative feedback on Raiden and changed him just to please the fans. They even gave him a larger body with broader shoulders. It just looks so awkward with his more feminine face. By the way, did they explain his new body in MGS4? I never played it.

@LotusDragon09 Not really in the MGS4 game, no... If you want the story on why he became a cyborg, you'll have to download the 'MGS Encyclopedia' of sorts, called the MGS4 Database (It's free on the PS store of your PS3).

But then again you can probably find a copy of the database online if you google for it.

So this is a response to all the people who kept telling me to play the game or wait for Rising:

I bought MGS4 relatively recently...and I loved it. Didnt really explain much on Raiden that I know of, but theres always Rising. HOWEVER, I think the plot of Rising has changed. From what I read, its not going to explain why he turned into a cyborg. I hope another game is made that does explain it.

@LotusDragon09 I didn't really hate Raiden or like him. But he was cool in the sense as he was just a regular guy. Most heros in a video game are hardcore killing machines and Raiden in MGS2 was just a regular guy. I liked that aspect and it was cool to see Snake from another characters view.

@LotusDragon09 No but either you can download the MGS4 Database or you could google Metal Gear Solid Wiki and then just search for Raiden.

@LotusDragon09 he was given this new Body from Dr Madnar (which if i remember well is a reference to Snatcher Hideo Kojimas older game), BUT hopefully that story will be covered in MGS Rising :D

@LotusDragon09 But yeah if you decide to buy a PS3 at any point, grab a copy of MGS4. Raiden is quite different, but it's definitely still him. There's a reason he has changed, and even in MGS4 it isn't fully explained. But if you play MGS4 you'll understand enough. I wont say any more though because I don't want to ruin anything lol.

@l3awl3ag Yeah I remember that part. I thought it was funny :). Though reflective of how stupid some people can be. He is clearly male, but yes, I do get the joke. You make a good point about him being more of a real person. I think it definitely balanced out Snake's personality as well.

@LotusDragon09 Raiden obviously wasn't gay, but he was a bit of a sissy lol. They even made a joke about his feminine appearance IN the game. Remember when tries to rescue the president? The first thing the president does is cup Raiden's testicles, because he's unsure of whether he is male or female lol. It didn't make him an less of a character. I thought he was brilliant in fact. He felt like a real person, there was nothing exaggerated like there is with most other fictional characters.
