This is basically all you need to know about the establishment of the country, it sums it up very well.
Every country should have 2 minutes video where u can learn about the establishment and basics of a country/ brilliant work.

Naddoddur is concidered to be Faroese.
At least Naddoddurs offspring lives in Faroe islands and maybe Iceland.
There have been theories that maybe naddoddur disvovered Vinland before EIrik hin reyði!!

btw turbofritz. naddoddur was born in norway. didn't know he lived in the faroe islands
The first permanent settler, Ingólfur Arnarson is belived to have settled in 874AD.
Resent archaeology findings in Reykjavik suggest however that Iceland was settled much earlyer, or as early as 720 AD.
It´s not yet known by whom.

it wasn't a swede who first settled btw. Ingólfur Arnarson from norway is recognized as the first permanent Nordic settler of Iceland. According to Landnáma he built his homestead in Reykjavík in 874. Although recent archaeological finds in Iceland suggest settlement may have started a little earlier, the date is probably not too far off

Naddoddur was the first who discovered iceland. he was from Faroe Islands.
Iceland is mostly inhabited from Norwegians but also some Sweds and Faroese.

You are right, well actually there were some Irish monks here first (Papar) but they left when the Norse came.
But Nadoddur was the first known of the Norse people to land here and tell others about it.
