I also agree that Judy SHOULD have won the Oscar, and that it was a huge mistake made by the Academy. While Grace's preformance was great, Judy's was the better of the two. I don't see why Judy didn't win? I mean she was the front runner to win. People today know Kelly as "Princess Grace", and don't even remember The Country Girl. While, A Star is Born and Judy Garland's preformance are immortal.

Regardless of the Oscar controversy, this movie to me is a classic. The kind of acting you rarely see today. A wonderful picture!

I think what people don't get is that the voting itself is a matter of opinion and favoritism. Each member votes for who they want. I don't buy that they get together and decide the winner like a political campaign. Everyone likes who they like, the academy is just able to solidify it with their votes. That's all.

This is the only film in which Grace Kelly was able to display her acting chops - excellent dramatic work - and not just be some pretty, supportive wife or girlfriend. She was much better than Garland, sorry. And the reason no one remembers this film is because no one wanted to see Kelly frumpy and unglamorous, you know, actually play a three-dimensional, realistic part for once.
