I caught the unique "Yellow Swoosh" ES44DC BNSF 7695 in Tehachapi, after being alerted by the same reliable source who told me about the BNSF Geometry Train. Sound system with good bass is recommended, to hear the classic GEVO "thumping" as it accelerates and climbs through the Mojave Subdivision.

  • Is that snoke or dust at 4:50? Or sand?

  • @AndreiTupolev: When I first saw it, I thought it was smoke, but looks like dust kicked up by both the train and the wind.

  • Isn't the 2nd unit one of those new jobs with only 4 powered axles? It has a lifting system that transfers weight to the front and rear axle on each truck I believe.

  • @wesolint: Yeah, it's the ES44C4. I caught a Z train with pure ES44C4 consist recently (6633/6661) so when I have time, I'll post that video.

  • When was this filmed

  • @amtrak505: July 14, 2011 (it's also on the title at the beginning).
