  • that did take a long time. well your method of using a grinder still saves your arm if you're coping 5 1/4 + poplar, i prefer to use the jig-cope method. much quicker! in fact i used the jig saw on the 10" poplar base i did in a house today.

  • platinumber,

I also use the Collins Coping foot and have so for a long time. It's an excellent tool.

  • have u ever heard of copingsaw?

  • Yes I have ;-).

As a matter of fact, "coping with a coping saw" was my first YouTube video.

  • thats cool dude , but dang.. i could of coped 3 boards and mitered probablly 6 in the time it took you to do all that ... and my joints are paper thin tight

  • Now I didn't say it was the fastest, just a bit easier on the arms ;-)

  • easier on the arms terrible for the ears and lungs

  • Another nice method of demonstrating how coping is done, but I believe using the coping saw is still faster as it only cut the profile line and not have to sand the much material out.

  • Well if nothing more after 5 days of doing crown this way you ll have forearms like popeye. Hey I have a jackhammer for sale, that or you could maybe try having a friend hold the joint under the tire of a car and do a brakestand on it,

  • again Why not just use a Jig Saw ?

  • If it works for you that's great! I couldn't nor wouldn't due to the amount of dust involved with removing that much material with a sander disk. I have great success with a jig saw and I use dust extraction at the tool.

  • blah, blah, molding, blah blah smoke, blah

  • Say goodbye to your lungs

  • nothing wrong with this idea, i dont give a crap about speed, only looks matter in the end. looks fun.

  • A house in a day doesn't really mean crap, 10,000 sq. ft. or 1000 sq. ft. lol?

  • huh, cool thanks. i have both the bosch 1590 and 1591. ive always done it by hand without the use of guides or special attachments. but i will look into it.
