i agree with "mudandsnow". get a hard tail. not dual suspension. also, get a bike that will suit what you might be interested in doing/environment you live in. like i wouln't get a mtb if i lived in a big city with no forest-like features.

not for your first! get a bike thats light, i recommend a hardtail, like they say, don't get a bike thats too good for you it will just be a waste.
