The bass has not such brightness now; here's the golden age of the true bass instruments.

Who would have imagined an upright could sound so rocking?
He was more than just a performer, too.
Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, and Muddy Waters all had some of their best songs written by him.
Zeppelin also ripped him off, until (finally) he sued to get his royalties due him.

False, many people can play like that today, in fact, some can play better. Now I'm in either of those categories myself, or anywhere near.

That aside, Willie Dixon was one of the greatest musicians to play the instrument because he revolutionized it, not because of his showboating but because of his innovation. Of course he did show some great technical prowess, but when it came down do it, he was great because changed the instrument forever but still made it fun.

near the start, around 20 seconds, if you look at him you'd sware he was a small man with big hands, but Willie Dixon was huge, so what the hell?! lol.
