I was born in Vietnam, left for the states at the age of 6. I actually attended first grade there but left half way. My speaking and comprehending in Vietnamese is almost perfect and I consider vietnamese as my first language, but I can't read or write in Vietnamese

0.57 seems incorrect to me.
You are actually pronouncing the viet 'i' as in the English "u" as in English 'bun or fun'

yes, you are right, my example is incorrect, I should have given you the example of "i" as in "Kim" (pronounced keem) or as in "tin" (news, pronouced teen) in the video, the "i" sound is right, pronounce it like "ee", but ignore the example, there is no such word as bi`n in Vietnamese. Thanks for being sharp...there is usually at least one mistake in each video, only two have been pointed out so far, this is one of them
