  • catskill, do you actually fill the first plastic bucket with water or do you just use it to collect condensation?

  • Its filled with water and collects condensation.

  • Great work!

Did you experiment with other cooling methods for your woodgas? I suppose a simple automotive radiator wouldn't flow very well (and might clog), but maybe a big intercooler?

I particularly like the filtration method with the water/straw. Way to keep it simple.

How well matched is the size of your woodgas gen to the combustion engine?

  • On the truck I used a gas to water heat exchanger for cooling, this proved unnecessary and complicated. This design would be good for co-generation setups you could than take the heated water and heat hot water or your house. An intercooler with large passages and clean outs would work fine but in my case the 2 copper was free.

The engine is 25 cubic inches and the fire tube is 3.4 so its perfectly matched.

  • you are a super genius

  • Thanks! I appreciate all the support!

  • @mitty1979 Ha! That's a good joke. It was a joke right?....

This gasifier is a basic FEMA style gasifier. GEK uses a modified Imbert gasifier design. There are very few similarities between the two designs.

  • I'm Watching This Video 1-4-2012 --- Very, Very Impressive & Ingenious- Really an Improved, Simplified Version- Very Practical Explained Very Well - Thank You Very, Very Much!

  • This is almost exact copy of a GEK gasifier design. Commercial manufacturing and sale of the GEK design requires a formal licensing agreement with ALL Power Labs. The licensing fee is a simple 10% on gross retail sales. So if you sell it you have to pay royalties.

  • i am go to git come out here for the fair for wold the earth fair

we are now solving ever than stop and we are waiting for the answer

  • Very nice setup. Do you know if waste motor oil or a combination of wood and oil, can be used for fuel? What formula did you use to figure out how big the air inlet and outlet should be?

    Thanks

  • so ive been watching all sorts of alt. energy videos and done a bit of reading but it seems every turn i make i see a vid. done by you (and assosiates) that trumps all the other videos availlable. exellent job on every project ive seen. id like to see the gasifier run but looks fantastic and well explained (dude yer a teacher at heart i know it to be true) im going off grid end of spring 2011 and am endlessly thankful to the good people like u experimenting and "giving" your findings away. tyvm

  • Doesn't that burn the paint off the blue tank? Love your idea I just found a well tank and want to build one just like yours. Any new ideas? Thanks in advance for your input.

  • Thats nearly identical to the old Onan that I have, might be a bit smaller.Did you have to modify the carburetor to make this work?It looks like such a simple setup the way you have it.I thank you for sharing this. Also if possible I'd like to see more detail on the filters, like how they are made, and what the filler is in the secondary filter.Thanks.

  • Did you plumb it from the air valve directly into the bonnet of the Genset carb?

Or did you remove the carb and go directly into the intake manifold?

Great little unit.Have you increased the size of the fuel hopper?

    Nice work.

  • I bet that is superbly more effiecient than the other home make shift ones. This one is spicy! Nice!!!!
