The yellowish amber colored fenugreek seeds are commonly used as toasted spice for curry in Indian subcontinent, spice for injera in Ethopia and pastırma in Turkey and also boiled as tea in Egypt.

The presented recipe shows one of the unique use of these seeds to make salad in Nepal. Soaked (or sprout) and slightly boiled seeds are added with common salad ingredients such as tomatoes, onion, cucumber etc and mixed with lime, toasted crushed sesame, spices, salt and cilantro serving as dressing ingredients. Enjoy Methi Ko Achar (Achaar)!

  • yo tito huncha ki nai? maile aahile samma chakheko chaina.

  • Methi is bitter as it is but since you are adding lime/lemon juice (acid) and cooking it as well, it wont be bitter.

Try it and let us know.
