Jerald D. Tanner (June 1, 1938—October 1, 2006) and Sandra McGee Tanner have been prominent critics of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The Tanners founded, and Sandra Tanner has continued to operate, the Utah Lighthouse Ministry, whose stated mission is "to document problems with the claims of Mormonism and compare LDS doctrines with Christianity". This includes reprinting original versions of early Mormon writings and scripture, and highlighting doctrinal changes, such as the rejection of Brigham Young's "Adam-God theory". The Tanners have jointly published more than forty books on the subject.

Anyone who already knows their Bible, including Old Testament Scholars who view the Bible as a Jewish History, could NEVER accept the Book of Mormon. Having been a non-denominational Christian for many years before I took a look at Mormonism I just shook my head when I read the BOM. Whoever wrote it clearly didn't have a clue about Grace as written in the New Testament nor did they know their Old Testament very well with all the "North American" nonsense. It's a shame...
