Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, spoke before her party recently and explained how multiculturalism has failed Germany.

My question is this: Is America capable of making it work? Can people come her to America and hold on to their traditions and make this thing work?

Diversity is for rain forests and coral reefs. NOT human societies. If we truly want to "celebrate" the differences between cultures, they must remain exactly that - DIFFERENT cultures. When you homogenize a society through the admixture of myriad cultures, you create a dissonant puddle of mud that can never live in harmony. This is pure media deception once again in the face of growing opposition to Islam in Europe- Merkels statement is merely to appear that concerns are being heard, but in real fact she is talking about something much more criminal and destructive to Europe. No longer 'Diversity' but 'Integration'. She is only saying that MultiKulti (as 2cultures side by side) has failed and that the way forward is to make these Immigrants German! She further requested 400,000 foreign workers in this speech!

It has worked for many years until certain classes became minorities. The Irish, Italians, Chinese to name a few were discrininated against but it all worked out withought government involvement. When government gets involved is where problems begin.
