Tony T here from Gamblers Television covering the NFL "Vegas Style" all season long.

The Arizona Cardinals finished the 2007 regular season with a record of 8-8. The last winning season for the Cardinals was in 1998. Can you believe this franchise have had only 1 winning season in the last 23 years. Yikes! But Ken Whisenhunt has this team moving in the right direction. Oddsmakers have set the Arizona Cardinals projected win total for the 2008 season at 7 1/2 wins

Schedule:

Arizona plays in the NFC West and that means 2 games against St Louis, San Francisco and Seattle. The Cardinals lost twice to the 49'ers last season and that won't happen this year. The NFC West plays the AFC East and NFC East this season. They must travel to the weaker teams in the NFC East in Washington and Philadelphia and host the NY Giants and Dallas making it very difficult to pull out a .500 record against this division. Hosting the weaker teams makes it easier for victory and Arizona got very unlucky here with this draw. On the AFC side they must travel to the Jets and Patriots and host Buffalo and Miami. With a road game at Carolina the Cardinals must travel to the East Coast on 5 occasions this season.

Offense:

The biggest improvement with this unit was their offensive line. In past years the Cardinals line would get stuffed by opposing defensive lines. But in 2007 the Arizona Cardinals offensive line was drive blocking and opening up space for their running backs. Quarterback Matt Leinart has been named the starter and with Kurt Warner looming as the teams backup the third year QB must mature into the position. In 5 starts last season Leinart passed for 2 touchdowns but threw 4 interceptions and had a poor passer rating of 61.9. Warner put up good numbers last season but had issues with ball security as he fumbled 12 times last season. Edgerrin James returns as the feature back and finished 4th in the NFC with 1222 yards rushing and posted 7 TD's. Marcel Shipp and J.J. Arrington help off the bench. The Cardinals are strong in the wide receiver position with Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin and Early Doucet comes over in the draft from LSU to compete for the #3 wideout.

Defense:

The Cardinals used the draft to improve on defense. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was taken 16th and is a speedy playmaker on the corner. He will had depth to the secondary. Defensive end Calais Campbell was selected in the second round and gives the Cardinals much needed depth on the line because both Darnell Dockett and Antonio Smith need relief during games to stay fresh late. Their linebacker core is very deep and again they addressed their depth issue brining in Travis LaBoy from Tennessee. The Cardinals did a very good job of addressing needs on their defense during the offseason.

And now to my Selection:

If Matt Leinart struggles it's comforting to know that Kurt Warner is a capable backup. Ken Whisenhunt will not allow his squad to lose to the 49'ers twice this season and expect major efforts in those two games this season and in practice leading up to them. The tough schedule is factored into the betting line of 7 ½ wins and a return to an 8-8 season cashes the bet. Arizona possess the best starting receivers in football and all reports are that Matt Leinart worked hard in the offseason to improve on his decisions on the field He looked a little tentative last season. The offensive line improvement greatly aided the running game last season and with the Cardinals productive offseason moves on defense a return to 8-8 at least is likely. I've got them sweeping San Francisco and they can get 6 more wins on their schedule.

Play Arizona over 7 ½ wins for the 2008 season.

Selection: Play Arizona over 7 ½ wins in 2008 Regular Season.
