Cheryl's Children's Home (www.cherylshome.org) is an Orphanage/School in Dagoretti (Nairobi) on the edge of the famous Kibera Slum. Cheryl's has been built and upgraded over the last few years by the Sligo-based charity Kenya Build (www.kenyabuild.com). Every child at Cheryl's has an individual and usually very harrowing story to tell of their past. At a recent series of fund-raising concerts at the Lord Erroll (Runda, Nairobi) the Children were joined by Maeve Coghlan (Soprano www.myspace.com/maevecoghlan), James Nelson from The Celtic Tenors (www.celtictenors.com & www.jamesdnelson.com) and Colm Henry (Piano - www.myspace.com/colmhenry) for a song called Inchworm, from the musical Hans Christian Andersen (Music by Frank Loesser).
A background chorus of frogs and crickets adds to the atmosphere!
And if you would like to acquire a copy of the kids' debut CD, check out the Facebook page - "Cheryl's Children On Top of the World" or contact www.cherylshome.org
