  • I filmed this and owned the horse. I was travelling through Mongolia on the beginning of a much bigger journey on the trail of nomads from Mongolia to Hungary.

Although this may appear like a crude system, it is used in traditional nomad culture right across the steppe. I can tell you that the very next day i was riding my horse and he had no signs of soreness at all, and I rode a further 200km without the shoes coming loose.

I had him shod because they warned me of the rocky terrain ahead.

  • people in Europe and usa do why worst things than that to horses if you think about it..

  • Respect different cultures will you? These people have been used doing this for centuries and centuries. This is better for the farrier as it is (no bending or carrying heavy horselegs with possible additional weight), and when they close up on the horse his face he is calm, without artificial help of squeezing lips. He breathes calmly and has his eyes almost closed. If they'd see us, struggle with our horses who 'don't want to and are jumpy', they would laugh at us.

  • Why don't they just train the horse to give a foot like tens of millions of other horses?

  • WTF?!

  • Ive made a couple of posts already over time. Ive decided that this video isnt as bad as it looks.

Firstly there is no blood so the sensitive structures havent been breached. Secondly powerfull ponies like these could struggle free if in pain. They would kick and struggle untill they did serious damage to themselves. These nails must angle steeply out toward the wall and miss the laminia. There are issues of sole pressure etc but the ponies probably have very thick soles anyway.

  • poor horse!!!!

  • its a wonder they even have a camera

  • those guys are retards. wtf no need for all that!
