Ethanol is HORRIBLE. Growing CROPS just for fuel is expensive, makes food price soar. Takes MORE energy to make ethanol than you GET FROM IT! Only Farmers getting Fed subsitides to grow CRAP corn like it. Ethanol will not work in cold temp, holds more water & has less energy, MPG goes down. BIODIESEL works becaue it uses WASTE VEG OIL. Growing corn crops for fuel will not work. Brazil works because they use suger; suger cane grows like weeds there & energy out/in ratio is good. CORN=POOR.

"diesel engines ever ran on sunflower oil direct... imbecil"
FU! I know and it was peanut oil jack ass, and it's spelled imbecile moron. I know all about SVO or WVO. So? Not all engines are diesel. You can't grow enough vegetable oil for the millions of barrels needed daily. I have VW TDI. You pay $20 a gal for OIL to run a diesel. I pay $4.10/gal diesel (0.26 more than Reg gas). I get 50 mpg, and you're an idiot.

I mentioned all this, but SUGAR CANE gives a higher yield, better energy ratio and byproducts are usable. I mentioned land, increases price of all agricultural commodities several times. Wheat, barley, grain, corn, all go up when corn growers are subsidize to grow corn for fuel. CORN is not ideal for fuel; it takes more energy to grow and process to ethanol (than sugar) than it's worth. I also mentioned temp, water absorption and lower energy density of ethanol than petro fuel.

@gmcjetpilot few of your 'facts' are wrong there. growing corn or sugar cane for ethanol isn't so much expensive as it is land demanding. need alot of land to supply a small country enough fuel. ethanol produces more energy then is put in by us. ethanol freezes at 114C so it would be fine in cold temps as well. problem is the land needed and fertilizer needed for the crops which would fuck up the environment.

FIRST diesel engines ever ran on sunflower oil direct. It's much cleaner than petroleum diesel. The video shows making Bio-diesel from Veg oil, but veg oil can be injected direct. How much sunflower oil can we produce? Millions of barrels/day? USA uses 360 million gal/day. A gal of sunflower oil wholesale is $20/gal. Algae has starch which can be turned into fuel. It's in the research, experimental phase. How many barrels/day are produce now? Never said it can't work imbecil!

"We are talking about biodiesel now, not ethanol"
The video is about Biodiesel. See if you can follow kid, Google: corn ethanol scam ripoff. Cost to grow & turn CORN into ethanol, what USA uses, is not cost or energy efficient (yet). Sunflower seeds or algae? Experimental, little used in producing significant energy. I didn't say ethanol can't work in USA, but it's not replacing petroleum based fuel near term. I'm 50 yo w/ a masters in mechanical engineering. Watch your mouth punk.

@gmcjetpilot It's spelled Brasil in portuguese, imbecile. it's like spelling america with a k because germans spell it like that.
We are talking about biodiesel now, not ethanol. Biodiesel is made usualy out of rape/sunflower seeds or algae. It's very easy to produce and it's way cleaner than regular diesel.
-
"You don't grow corn you grow rape, just like they do to your ass in brasil. And it does work."
What the? That's nonsensical gibberish. At one point you try to spell the word Brazil I think? Then you talk about rape and my ass? Stop it pervert. I know BIO-diesel works, and own a VW Jetta TDI. I don't know why I'm bothering to talk to you, but Brazil has mass sugarcane, which is cost & energy effective for them to make ethanol from, not so with corn ethanol ass hole moron. Fact!

@thizhypy3000 Obama brought you some tasty black cock.

@gmcjetpilot You don't grow corn you grow rape, just like they do to your ass in brasil. And it does work.
