@colin340 Professional bike racers can put out almost 2/3 of a horsepower (about 450 watts) for an hour, and top sprinters have been measured to put 2.5hp (nearly 2,000 watts) for ten seconds. I believe this is the road where they take advantage of the maximum 1/3% allowable downhill grade however, and that by itself, for this amount of weight and speed, gives you almost an extra 1/3hp free.

@p4t0p3p3 Its the lack of wind drag thats the difference.

i wonder how sweaty and foggy that pod would get after an hour of hard pedalling.

Doesn't hold true for grades/going up hills. You'd be better off on a regular riding position.
-
is not as much as gearing as the position the rider seats, normal biking position isn't very efficient as to get all the power the biker can get, if you can seat with your back supported and the legs pedaling at the front, similar of a car driving position you can produce much more pedaling force

Self indulgence is part of YouTube, hence "You" in its name. It's not called CinemaTube. Try the cinemas for that.

Lindberg almost fell asleep while traversing the Atlantic. I'm sure you found that pointless as well.

yep. :)

is he actually pedalling?
he hit's the one mile to go marker at 6:18 and hits the finish at 7:17. For anyone who is not familiar with how this race is run, The racers start 5 miles away from the finish line and they build up their speed until they get timed going through a 200 meter trap. That is how they calculate their speed. If you look closely on the far right of the screen you can occasionally see the mile markers. 5, then 4.5, etc...
