Do you believe in unselfish love? My friend Richard -a clever and charming French gentleman- has rather romantic, but bright ideas about it. We met at a fancy restaurant downtown some days ago and while carefully cutting up his canard à l'orange, he suddenly asked me:

- Do you think President Sarkozy is good looking enough for his present Mrs?

I stared at him, a little bit surprised by the question.

- What do you mean exactly?-I asked-
- I mean ... he doesn't fit her. She is tall, pretty, trendy ... simply gorgeous.
- Well. I suppose we all have the right to be blessed with the gift of a gorgeous partner, even those who don't fit him or her. But in this particular case ... he is "le President de la République". Such a strong political power has certainly an erotic side that some women can't resist.
- Huh. Were he a blue-collar worker in his overall boiler outfit ... do you think women would pay any fucking attention to him? --he giggled-.
- Absolutely not! He is one of the most powerful men in the world and that's what makes him so sexy and desirable to his Mrs. Not his appearance or his more than likely interesting personality.
- So this is what women want when approaching a guy ... a real catch.

At that moment I felt obliged to defend the female world population. A huge responsibility, by the way.

- No, chéri, please don't take me wrong: I just said that money helps those who are not exactly gorgeous. As for those who are gorgeous but poor ... they certainly have more chances at first sight. Same goes for women, I guess.
- Oh, yes, indeed.
- But don't be dissapointed, honey: there are still a few ones who believe in love at first sight, platonic love and all that romantic stuff.

He smiled.

- Romantic? Mais non ma biche; you know the way guys are in general: we have just one brain cell, maybe two, not always connected. One is for sex, the other one for work --this one needs the other working for a satisfactory performance-. As long as our basic requirements are fulfilled, we are not very demanding. Men are simple. Women are complex.
- Hey Richie, do I want to start a fight with you? Nah, I don't think so.
- Ok, ok dearie. Let's call it quits.
- That's better. By the way, his ex must be really enraged.
- I'm not surprised. Wouldn't you be pissed off in her place?
- Definitely. That would be a very ill-advised thing to do to me. Don't say I didn't warn you!
- I would never do that to you, ma petite biche. -he said rasing the cup to his mouth and sipping his Moët Chandon.


He would never do that to me. Hard to believe, but anyway, isn't he cute?

Finalmente logré sentarme tranquila a leer todos tus posts (algo que tenía pendiente desde hacía un tiempo...).
Me quedan todavía todos los de la izquierda, pero me los imprimiré para leerlos tranquila por las noches....que con 9 horas de trabajo de oficina, ya tengo la cuota 'tecnológica' más que cubierta....=)

La verdad que soy cero constante (con la mayoría de las cosas) así que no prometo dejar mis comentarios en cada post porque no lo cumpliría seguro!; pero como se ve que te gusta saber si la gente los lee....al menos puedo decirte que desde Argentina también nos 'hipnotizamos' con tus historias =.) (Que no se enteren en mi trabajo...pero creo que me pasé el día tratando de leer tus post entre tarea y tarea... desde el primero al último, cosa de no 'perder el hilo'y ponerme un poco al día...;)

Y bueno...nada....en principio admiro tu 'habilidad' para hablar tantos idiomas (y te felicito=)...y después...sobre lo que escribís...me atraparon mucho tus historias (la de Vilma sobretodo); me morí de la risa con 'The Stupidity Gland', y hasta me identifiqué con algunas otras (sobretodo con la de 'girly girls' reason'....Y no por la cantidad de rituales y artilugios que hacemos las mujeres para estar bien...sino por la sensación de libertad que describías....Me pasa mucho...y sobretodo cuando me voy de viaje...como si tuviéramos 'vía libre' o nos concediéramos mas permiso para hacer cosas que en otros lugares o situaciones no nos animaríamos...).

Espero leer todo lo que me falta en estos días...y ya sí..poder de vez en cuando agregar mis comentarios (aunque soy de las que 'están presentes, pero en silencio....'=).

why is she staying with the president of france when you can clearly there is no chemistry between them anymore so why stay with him the only person shes hurting by staying with him is herself and herself only. she deserves better than him in my opinion
