TxDOT hopes to one day rebuild I-10 between Winnie and Beaumont. Find out the plans and why it's taking so long to rebuild one of the last sections of interstate in Southeast Texas.

  • Thanks for the question.

Most of our work on the interstate is done at night. There are some exceptions, however. For instance, striping is done during the day for safety reasons; Striping is usually performed extremely close to the adjacent travel lane. Night work, with all the drunks, makes striping much more dangerous than, for instance, a typical resurfacing or concrete repair project.

Having said that, most of our work where there are lane closures, take place at night.
