This is a demonstration of one of my favorite programs. TurboLink is a computer program that communicates with several GM cars that use OBD1 though the ALDL port under the dash. I use it on my 94 Caprice with an LT1, my 1986 Turbo Buick, and my 1988 Pontiac Fiero.

Ken Mosher is the primary author of the program, it is no longer for sale, but a few copies might be available from him. He can be found in the Grand National/T-Type forums at http://www.gnttype.org

For screen shots and all you want to know about the program, visit the official website at: http://www.turbo-link.com

I'm not sure if you can purchase it from the site anymore.

About the video, I use TurboLink on a Thinkpad 600 with 288MB ram and 366MHz Pentium 2. I run Win98SE and is the only thing this computer does. I use a 140W power inverter to run the laptop which has a weak battery.

I was wrong about closed loop...the car was in closed loop, the indicator is hard to see when in open loop. (Open/Closed loop refers to the car using the O2 sensors or not to adjust the fuel.)

Feel free to ask any questions.

  • I have my cable now, but I cant get it working with this software. I got it working with WinALDL, but thats all.

Do I have to have the TurboLink cable that came with this program when bought to have this piece of software working?

    Thanks again!

  • @chevyvette It might not work well or at all with the software, I'm not sure if it's a special cable or not, but it did come from the writer of the software, so I didn't make this one. I have built the one from WinALDL but haven't tried it and have since lost it now that I have TurboLink. I do know the website is done, the author sold the rights and the company that owns it no longer cares about it.

  • Very nice! I just googled the software, and found it in the forums you referred to.

And now I just ordered a cable. Cant wait to start diagnostics on my 92 F/S Blazer!

I am just wondering. If a sensor in this software displays 0 (zero) does that mean that the sensor are broken, or that the ECU doesnt have a sensor that it should have. Hope you understood that tricky sentence.

    Thanks!

  • @chevyvette It can...some are logic switches controlled by the ECM, others are sensors that are reading or not. Usually a sensor failure also results in the SES light being set, so if that's good, it an intended operation.

  • @Turbo231 Cause, I have a loose connector somewhere around the air filter box. And I was wondering if that may be the IAT. Then I found out that IATs didn't com until 96. But I guess I just have to wait for my computer to show what I have and what I haven't. Thanks again!

  • @chevyvette IAT's have been around since the 80's, so you are probably on the right track with that. This computer will for sure help figure that out.

  • programs no..for my buick, I just swap out the ECM for what I want to do...be it street or drag.

  • So do you know any programs that will add horsepower to you car

  • You are thinking another program. This is a program to read OBD 1 data to the car's computer. Your car is OBD2 and much different then cars in the 80's early 90's.

  • I have a 2009 cobalt is it true that this system can ad horsepower to your car
