"MAN IN THE MIDDLE"
Did you see the man in the limousine
With the pretty blond, he is fifty and the girl's only seventeen
But she doesn't care, and she never will
If he's ninety-five she doesn't give a damn
Just as long as he pays the bill.

Did you see that man with the fat cigar
He just left his lunch with a belly full of lobster and caviar
He can chose the wine from a vintage year
He can drink champagne in his limousine
While the rest of us drink a beer.

Cause he's the man in the middle, never second fiddle
Just like a spider in a cobweb
Hard as a hammer, not the kind of boss you double cross
Cause he's the man in the middle, knows the way to diddle
He's never bothered by his conscience
Deals with the devil, cauyse he wants to be
Man in the middle, the middle, the middle
In the middle(in the middle, in the middle)

But you see that man made a big mistake
Even though he's got all his servants and a mansion beside a lake
And the money too, all that he can spend
He can buy the most, nearly everything
But he can't buy an honest friend

Cause he's the man in the middle, never second fiddle
Just like a spider in a cobweb
Hard as a hammer, not the kind of boss you double cross
Cause he's the man in the middle, knows the way to diddle
He's never bothered by his conscience
Deals with the devil, cayse he wants to be
Man in the middle, the middle, the middle
In the middle(in the middle, in the middle).

  • I love Abba, but this isn't one of their best ones

  • Ha, I've grown up listening to ABBA and AC/DC, they were right next to each other on my Dad's record shelf (alphabetically organized). Why does everyone have to choose between the two? Really they're so alike: They are both the best in their genres, and even if you consider them both rock n' roll, they're two types of rock, but both of them classics. I do wish that some of the people who only listen to heavy metal could expand their taste, though . . .

  • European Soul.

  • It's been around 15 years since I heard this song. lol.

  • LOL THAT'S SO TRUE!!! xD

  • Am I the only one who ever saw the irony in this song about an "evil" rich guy? This track was on the 1975 self-titled ABBA LP, the cover of which showed the band dressed to the nines, riding in the back of a limo and sipping champagne; on the back cover they all relax in a luxury hotel room. Of course, the irony may have been intentional. It may have been a jab the Sweden's pop music establishment, which was openly Marxist at the time and had nothing but scorn for ABBA.

  • While many of my high school peers were listening to heavy metal garbage like AC-DC, Judas Priest, and others, I would often listen to "Man in the middle" on a staticy 45 record. It was the B side of "SOS." I remember those days all too well.

  • This song brings back memories from when i was 7 years old in 1978 when me, my brother and sister used to play this album over and over in moms car on our 8 track player! Thank you so much for posting this!
