It took me several goes to get the puppets right. I blogged the process here on my blog (it's in the description for the video, I can't seem to post them in the comments).

The video was awesome! I liked the song you wrote also. I would like to know if you used clay or what to make your animation. Very cool!

The puppets had a wire skeleton (armature) for the bodies which was covered in material. The head, hands and feet where made out of Fimo clay (which is baked to make it harden) and painted.
