This is the completed silicone casting from the 74-30 mold making video we posted last month. This is just some quick eye candy but feel free to check out our other videos for more info on silicone and our DVD if you want to jump in and get started. The DVD has all the info we can't cram into a youtube vid. All supplies are available on our webstore.

  • Can i use to thin down, mineral spiris? does this process doesn't affect the detail in the silicone head? what sealer you recommend ? what other paint i can use to paint a silicone head?

  • @jorgealexmr Some mineral spirits formulas contain less naptha than others. Make sure you do a test 1st to make sure everything works. Since the silicone pigments are mixed with silicone, no sealer is needed. Finally, no "regular" paint will work over silicone. It must be concentrated silicone pigments mixed with either a silicone sealant or more Gel-10.

  • @brickintheyard does the mix of gel 10 with naptha and pigment does not affect the detail in the head? like erases wrinkles, etc?

  • @jorgealexmr Only if over apply it.

  • hey there,

Is the Naptha you use different from VM&P Naptha, or is it the same thing?

  • @artnouveauiswar Same thing.

  • I swear I saw it move

  • daamn that song is dirrtyy

  • that thing is creepy as hell

  • @artnouveauiswar ...I use toluene (SP)...I found that the silicone will cure the entire ammount of toluene, into a lump of silicone...it seems to have lost none of its tear strength..maybe for use in a hand mold, as in the very liquid state there would be no bubbles in the silicone...
