this film is booring, puts you to sleep.good scenery.just as bad as steve mcqueens baby the rain must fall.the screen writer should be hung up by his balls...dick

All these "Pirates", etc. were so messed up it isn't funny. They got it from Lead Poisoning from the decanters and from the wine so makes this somewhat of a documentary as be to the insane actions depicted.
Food for though.
Great film however.

American audiences didn't like it because it was how it really was. Americans like to live in la la land when it comes to living and dying.
Most have the religion where you have to die for their God.
So, I'll wave when you go......

Omg, I took my little brothers to this when I was 14, always loved pirate and adventure movies and this one is pure gold, thank you so much for putting it up and may it stay for a long time!
Good on ya!
Cheers!

There's certain things you JUST DON'T DO in a movie, and one of them is kill an animal! Kill as many humans as you want, go right ahead and do that. But to kill an animal and then on top of that go way overboard with the gore?!!! What the hell!

This movie is discusting! I am no way prude. This movie only played in Theaters for a month or so. It was pulled because of differenet reasons. Because American audiences had a very hard time excepting the Plot & rolls their favorite actors were portraying. The Gore & showing of the abuse towards animals in graphic detail. Audience attendence was very low! Kirk & Yul never wanted it released when it came into our world of video owning & renting. I never saw this B 4 today. I now see why! BOOO!

Brynner and Douglas are my favorite actors but this movie is a weak weak weak vehicle....there seems to be no story. No plot. Only one scene location, a barren rock with a pretty lighthouse on it. I see Jules Verne's name on the intro credits but its hard to believe he had anything to do with this anemic artless mess, other than the title. Yul Brynner looks supremely bored. Kirk Douglas never seems to feel genuinely threatened. The monkey is cute. No dogs in the picture unfortunately.

This is my favorite Kirk Douglas movie. He is the classic 70's anti-hero. They don't make movies like this anymore.
