[[ Episode 5 Part 2: Fate ]]
As Jesse led me to a big wooden door upstairs, I took a deep breath and followed behind Jesse as he walked in. It had been three years since I had seen Leo and I'm sure the last thing he expected from me was to remove a stain from his vest.
"I found someone who knows how to get it out." Jesse said.
I looked up and saw Leo pacing back and forth from anxiety. As he looked up and made eye contact with me, he stopped in his tracks. It took him a second to process who was in front of him, but when he did, he embraced me in a warm hug.
(LEO) What are you doing here?!
(AUG) Well, I had a best friend who needed a date and I offered to escort her.
(LEO) Hayden is here?
(AUG) Yeah. She hesitated at first, but she knew that with the past aside, she wanted you to be happy. And she wanted to be here to support you and Dana on your new journey together.
Leo turned around and ran his hands through his lose curls. I could tell that he had a lot going through his mind and it had nothing to do with the wedding.
"I'm going to go and get some rubbing alcohol." Jesse said.
Leo nodded his head and began to pace back and forth again. Although we were at his wedding and I saw his future wife, I still wasn't convinced that he was in love with this Dana girl. Usually when someone is at a wedding, there is an overwhelming feeling of love. You can sense it in the grooms eyes and the brides smile. Although I didn't question Dana's feelings for a second, I did question Leo's.
(AUG) Can I share a little secret with you?
(LEO) Yeah.
(AUG) I'm not trying to convince you not to marry Dana, but I have this funny feeling in the pit of my stomach.
(LEO) About what?
(AUG) Although the dress that Dana is wearing symbolizes she is your wife-to-be, I get this feeling that your wife-to-be is sitting outside apart of all the guests.
(LEO) Hayden and I didn't work out August, we weren't meant to be. We weren't ready to commit.
(AUG) You mean you weren't ready to commit?
(LEO) You have no idea what you are talking about August. You haven't been around for three years.
(AUG) I agree, I haven't been around. But I'm facing the same emotions you are. I wasn't ready to commit to Jesse and now I've lost him. I know what it is like to be afraid of committing to someone, but if you really LOVE them, you can overcome anything.
Leo stopped in his tracks and looked up to me, tears filling his eyes. I could tell that he was in love, but that it wasn't with Dana. I didn't want what happened to me and Jesse to happen to Hayden and Leo. I would never want anyone to go through what I was going through.
"Got the rubbing alcohol!" Jesse interrupted.
Leo and I glanced at each other and realized that this wedding was going to happen. Jesse handed me the ice cube and rubbing alcohol and in a matter of minutes, the stain was gone. I tossed the ice cube and cotton swab in the garbage, making my way toward the door.
"Thank you August." Leo said.
I turned around and nodded my head, knowing that this wedding was going to go on. I knew Leo was making a mistake, but he would obviously learn the hard way.
A FEW MINUTES LATER....
"Do you Leo Jameson take Dana Peters to be your wife?" the Pastor asked.
Hayden and I looked on as we waited for Leo to say "I do." I was kind of hoping he would pull a "Friends" move and accidentally say Hayden's name, but that was a bit far fetched. After an awkward pause, Leo finally said the two words that would make him Dana's husband.
"I do." he said.
After he had said it, it caught me by surprise when he looked over at Hayden and I. It was like he looked at us for encouragement, but neither of us encouraged his stupid move.
"Would anyone like to object to the marriage of Dana Peters and Leo Jameson?" the Pastor asked.
Everyone looked around like someone was about to object and before the Pastor could continue, Hayden stood up.
"I object!" Hayden exclaimed.
Crap! What is she doing? This cannot be good.
