H.O. Walthers Early Version Bascule Bridge

After getting this second bridge a year later, I now know that there are two versions of
this bridge—an early and late version.
Fortunately I assembled the later version first so that I know how to retrofit the electric switching to micro switches, instead of a Mickey Mouse flopping-around brass leaf switch
which had no hope of working.
The older version uses a 6-Volt motor, the newer, a 12-Volt motor.

For some reason my camera added a low frequency fluttering sound when the bridge is moving upward. This sound is not there in real life.

Thanks. My electronics background was a help in retrofitting the switches. The rest was just 'taking time' and not rushing in assembly of the gear network.

actully the one I am buying is already built up, It is from some who tore down their whole layout. It is moterized and was built nicely using the right glue. Thanks for the tips though, also I favorited this Video!

I heard that Walthers is going to re-lease this model again with re-worked gearing and electronics again.

I built about 6 of these in my lifetime too. You did a GREAT job on the two you did. They run nice and smooth. Great Work !
