Too bad artists have to play in noisy clubs like this where some people are trying to listen while other jerks have to see how loud they can talk. I've been there, and it's no fun to try and listen to an artist while some joker is hollering out, "Do some Skynard".

Beautiful Jazz Guitar...Jimmy-- Tal and a few others were doing this back in 1950.They built the FOUNDATION.

Awesome. Thanks for posting this. It's great to see how he plays these lines. He seems to glide over the fretboard rarely using his pinky. Very similar to Wes Montgomery.

Great video. Not only because its Jimmy Raney, but just to see only the fingers playing the guitar.

Swing , preciso , gusto , logica nell'improvvisazione e belle scelte di note , accenti , gran suono , bel tocco , armonicamente giusto , grande senso dello spazio , ect... JIMMY RANEY ti adoro !!!!! Da te si imparano migliaia di cose tutti i giorni.
Wow what a fantastic gift to guitar players to see jimmy's hand like this. Sincere thanks Jon. His masterful technique, relaxed fluency and amazing rhythmic freedom in such detail! So few people genuinely imrpovise with all aspects of music while being at the same time so rooted in the harmony. Jimmy was a beautiful player and has enriched my life for many years. I very muched enjoyed your Clips on your site too Jon and am now off to find your album.

Thanks Jeff. Glad you enjoyed the video. You know growing up seeing him play at the time I realize how much I took for granted the experience of seeing him play and those magic fingers. So thanks really belong to the videographer for being so obsessed! My father used to joke about his facial expressions on this video. Little did he know that the world we be enjoying his everyone move, expressions and all!
Cheers
Jon
