Hi tehre,
I used Cuprinol 5 star timber treatment. B&Q sell it. It's expensive (about £12 for 2.5 litres) but put loads on. Wet rot is a fungus and itf you don't kill it all it'll come back and bite you!
If rots's up to the glass, cut it away with a Stanley knife and rip off the rotten moulding. Replace that with a hardwood moulding (again, you can get this at B&Q). Glue it to the glass then using it as your edge, fill up to it and the filler will key to the wood and it'll stay put.

hi thanx for the help... the wet rot on my window is similar to your window but it extends up to the glass... what could i use to make a nice edge? and i couldnt hear what u used on the wood after u cleaned away the rotten wood... it was clear and u used a toothbrush... thanx
Excellent video, especially for a novice like me who needs even basic steps explained. I'm going to try doing this on 3 small arched side windows at my Mum's house when the weather turns a bit warmer. Her windows are in a bit of a bad condition and it shows visually, but I'm way more confident I can restore them now I've watched your video, rather than getting into debt on total new window replacement.

Thank you for your kind comment. One thing, just make sure you really soak the repair (after you've dug the rot out) with 5 star timber treatment (Cuprinol). You have to kill the fungus or it will come back and bite you!

Yeah, if you've got 300 quid or so spare cash. This is about saving it.

Thanks man. Though one question, how do you not get paint on the actual window itself when painting? Well done.

I use the old trick of painting about a cm over the glass. Give it a couple of days to dry then take a scraper (Stanley sell them with their knife blades in) and use the window bead as a guide. Lay the scraper at about 45 degrees on the widow and push it up or down and you'll remove the paint to a clean edge leaving about 3mm as a rain seal. Much better than masking tape!
