  • My name is Charles C. Sumblin, and I was asleep in the hutch when the V,C.s penetrated the permiter at tht 6th cc. We immediately got dressed and rushed over across the bay to provide security for the area. I was a SP/5, and served as the assistant Supply Sgt. I remember the night that the brother was shot by the capt. at the village gate. My phone is 404-3443-3989.

  • @bangbaohieu Thanks man! I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. Are you Vietnamese?

  • @titocarrollton Vietnamese sapper = Dac Cong (special operation forces) .You can see rare movie about them (in Russian ) right here /watch?v=fgj05R8BJLE

  • This attack happened about 2 weeks before I arrived at crb air base. I lucked out at crb, only misguided rocket attacks and 2 sapper incursions the whole time. The rockets are the same kind that are now being used by the Arabs against Israel coming from Lebanon. It's a small world after all.

  • I was sationed at the 6th CC, was the duty driver the night of the attack, ended up with an M60 on the water tower on the north end of the compound. Other than that attackThe 6th Comvalescent Center was pretty good duty. Sp5-E5, Barry T. George

  • I was working in the bomb dump that night. We heard mortor rounds coming from the beach and explosions from the hospital area. A C-130 gun ship showed up shortly after the attack, circled all night until the sun came up and then left - never fired a round. The pilot wrote an article in Private Pilots Magazine in the 1980's talking about that night - he was waiting for orders to fire. Great war.

  • @carwashvnvmc God Bless you men, and thank you for your service to our country.

  • I was at the other end of 6cc just days from leaving. I too can't believe it's been over 40 years and still seems like yesterday. Now in the scheme of things, I'm truley getting 'short' an actually feel relieved I'll be with my brothers soon. God Bles You Brothers. PFC Mark H. Perry 129th Maint. Supt., 56th Gen Supt. Grp.
