Teachers talk a lot about what they expect from their students. I asked my advisory students what they expect from their teachers and here's what they said.

  • yes. I think you sent me a note a while back and I never responded, sorry! I made it as a public video so it could be shared freely. I'm glad to know other teachers

    can benefit from it.

  • I see one in there, but, since this project was about students expressing themselves, I included all the pictures. Note that I was teaching in an "urban" school district at the time with a large number of ESL students. Some of the grammar is off, too but I think they did a great job expressing themselves.

  • of course, be my guest. it was very easy. i used photostory 3, which is free online. and, i took all the pictures with my iphone, just uploaded them to my computer and compiled it all in photostory. let me know when you're done so i can take a look! the kids and the staff loved it.

  • Many principles for becoming an admired and effective teacher are found in the student writings. We should: Model the behavior we wish to see in our students, form positive and meaningful relationships with our students, engage kids with strong instructional skills, etc. Kids have to like the messager if they're going to listen to our message. Nice piece. BehaviorAdvisor-com

  • THANKS YOU FOR DOING THIS!

  • Whoa. Some of these complaints (let's not beat around the bush, several of them are complaints) are jarring, and indicate that there is in fact something wrong with what's going on at that particular school. Less talking, okay, that makes sense; more fun activities, get the grade we deserve--okay, now we're seeing some discrepancies in how the grading system actually works....but "respect" comes up a distressingly large number of times. Something's up.

  • Do you give permission for your presentation to be shown to teachers in presentations?

  • Why would you leave the spelling mistakes in?
