Animated Painting 3 - Split Seconds

This is an animated piece based on artist Naomie Kremer's painting 'Splitting Seconds.'

Namoie had the idea of giving her existing work new lives in the digital realm. This piece was created by taking a photo of the painting into photoshop and painstakingly breaking it apart into thousands of pieces. Those pieces were given their own layer and then exported into Apple Motion where i animated the individual pieces by hand under Naomie's Direction. The final product is a loop where the painting breaks apart and recreates itself. The movies are projected on a very large scale that's hard to recreate on youtube. Imagine this floating above you on a 15 foot screen...

Ultimately, i did 3 such projects with Naomie. They have been displayed at galleries around the world and received very well.
