I don't think it's likely that the film will be nominated for best picture. It didn't make enough money and doesn't have the buzz of "Titanic." It may get a nomination for cinematography or costume design, but not best picture.

Australia is a big sweeping overblown mess of a movie, I kinda enjoyed some parts of this film, but it has way too many old fashioned stereotypes, which now come across as very dated.

I also reviewed the film. I felt that the Acting really hurt the overall goodness of the film. I thought the scene-scapes were phenomenal but the plot was a bit dodgy. I loved the character of the small creamy boy very much, though. I gave it 7/10
