  • My great great great grandfather was in this battle, got wounded, stayed in the Infantry about another year. Went home married and raised a bunch of kids.

  • i wish i still lived in kennesaw. if i can imma move back one day

  • My great grandfather was wounded in this battle, survived to fight again. N.B. Thompson SCA

  • We all know that thw whole battlefield of Atlanta is city now, but for us civil war buffs we want to go to the places in atlanta were the fighting took place like east of the city where the battle occured and go where the union siege lines were and the confederate positions in atlanta. And places like Resaca,Dalton,Tunnel Hill, Allatoona pass, peachtree creek, where the armies clased as Sherman advanced.

  • Kennesaw was, in my opinion, Sherman's only blunder in his Atlanta campaign. But he carried out his threat that he will make Georgia howl. After a long siege, Atlanta fell and was burned to the ground, Sherman's army destroyed everything that could be used for the Confederate war effort and marched towards Savannah,Ga in his famous march to the sea.

  • A big factor in this battle was when a truce was called. Confederate commanders allowed union wounded to be evacuated from being burned to death from a brushfire. Confederate troops helped in getting the wounded down Kennesaw Mt. This was a good sign of honor among both sides, but the upcoming battle of Atlanta was yet to come.

  • yeah but they got wildman there and he is freeking awsom

  • Kennesaw is the most boring place on earth...

  • Oh, and also letters. A lot of soldiers could easily also carry food that they've foraged, and letters from home and such. When I re-enact, I carry one apple, one hardtack, a "letter from home" and some Civil War currency in it. That's what a lot of the men used when marching and foraging during Sherman's March.

  • wow, for foraging apples n stuff thats cool, never knew that. thanks for your help man.
