@77musica "Islam, christianity, today judaism, buddism and other false religions are BABYLON . . . "
Slavery was pretty common and accepted back in those days. I guess you are arguing that, if it happened, the exodus from Egypt of the Israelites shows gawd's disapproval of slavery.
But did that end slavery?
The bible is full of rules about slavery. Who could become your slave. How slaves could be punished. Rules for Hebrew slaves, etc etc.
@jtubebx1 Islam, christianity, today judaism, buddism and other false religions are BABYLON, religions have manipulated the Bible, thus people like you do not believe in it, carry on with your beliefs...
The bible claims that there were no fewer than 603,550 Hebrew slaves in Egypt and they were in Egypt for nearly five centuries. There should be some archeological or other historical evidence of that, right?
You can find the "False Testament" article on the American-Buddah website.
The book: "The Bible Unearthed: Archaeology's New Vision of Ancient Israel and the Origin of its Sacred Texts" (Free Press, 2002) is available on Amazon.
Did you know that there is no archaeological evidence that the Jews were held in Egypt?
There's an online article that you can read. Search for "False Testament: Archaeology Refutes the Bible's Claim to History." It was in the March 2002 Harper's Magazine.
The article is based on a book: "The Bible Unearthed: Archaeology's New Vision of Ancient Israel and the Origin of Its Sacred Texts."
"Not only are legacies left and slaves sold in this way to build churches, but the right is openly defended by the church. In 1836 the great Methodist Church in America, holding through ministers, and elders, and members, in their own church 250,000 slaves, said in their general conference in Cincinnati that they had no right, no wish, no intention to interfere with the relation of master and slave as it existed in the slave states of the American union"
@77musica "You have to go back to the original Hebrew language . . . "
Slavery was common back in biblical times and there is nothing in the bible that condemns it.
Not in any language.
It is a fact that the bible was used to justify slavery all during the centuries of slavery and then to justify racial segregation in the U.S. for a hundred years after slavery was outlawed.
@jtubebx1 You have to go back to the original Hebrew language which gives the true meaning to the words and its meaning, slave in Hebrew does not mean what most people think, study Judaism and you will learn more...
@77musica ". . . women are equal in the Bible . . ."
They are not.
A good search is BIBLE PATRIARCHY
Christianity, the Rastafarians, Jamaica and the U.S. are all patriarchal.
In biblical times, women and children were the property of their husbands. Before marriage, a woman was the property of her father. The marriage contract involves a transfer of property from the father to the husband.
The U.S. got rid of all the laws making women the property of their husbands by 1984.
Rasafari are christs too ...its a another christian group as katholics or so but they are christians
