Dont like gay marriage? Don't have a gay marriage. Debate over. It's not rocket science.

oh that is disgusting... Who cares if they're gay or not, it's never interfered with my life. Why are we having this debate? Some fucking people in this world are full of this stupidty.
Just let them marry, for fuck sake

@MamaMario13 Incidentally, this may surprise you, but there is a push in Cuba for marriage equality, and Slovenia is debating it as we speak.

@MamaMario13 apparently you didn't know abotu Nepal? Look it up. Nepal's Supreme Court ordered some time ago that the legislature draft equality legislation for gays and lesbians. They just haven't completed it yet. So, this means that Nepal techinically WILL have marriage equality in the near future. It was Nepal I was thinking of.

@lisztnut actually there is no Asian country which allows it either (although Japan is considering it): just sayin :P

@ice444 You are SOOOOOOOOOOOO right - it infuriates me that the only argument that the 'against' people have is to protect 'tradition and sanctity'.... it's absurd. = )
In Argentina same sex marriage has been legal for over a year now, and neither society nor family as an institution have fallen apart. In the speech given by our president, Cristina Fernández, during the official act in which she signed the law, she said these beautiful words: “Today I woke up with the same rights I had yesterday. No one took anything from me. This law only grants right to millions of citizens, without taking anything from anyone else, and that’s what’s beautiful about this law”.

Is marriage a religious union? If so, why do gays want to get married?

@Kurio71 People are still of the mistaken belief that it is as it was back in the 'Dark Ages'. But, this is the 21st Century & marriage is no longer necessarily a strictly 'religious' institution. It's also a 'legal' institution - hence the ability to get married by a Civil Celebrant (not a priest) anywhere one likes (not just in a church). That's why 'Civil Ceremonies' exist - they don't have to have anything to do with religion what-so-ever, yet they're still as legal as a church marriage.

@BunyipBlue1 What about Defacto? Isn't this legal?
Kurio71 2 months ago
@Kurio71 Yes it is, but de facto couples are not afforded the same rights as married couples are. Hence, why some gay couples want the right to marry.
